„I know but I don’t know.” (Blondie) — Von „Funny, how?“ bis „Fools At Work“ hat Hauschoreograf Samir Akika am Theater Bremen bereits so manchen Winkel zwischen persönlicher Geschichte, künstlerischem Experiment und Tanzspektakel ausgefüllt. Was, möchte man fragen, kann da eigentlich noch kommen? Nun, so einiges! Denn Samir Akika gelingt es mit einiger Verlässlichkeit, sich und sein Publikum mit Arbeiten zu überraschen, die man so auf keinen Fall von ihm erwartet hätte. In „Joujouville“ nimmt er das Ensemble von Unusual Symptoms mit an einen imaginären Ort, in dem Spiel und Fantasie die Regeln des Zusammenlebens bestimmten. Zwischen Gameshow, Spielzimmer und Würfelbude erkunden neun Tänzer:innen und zwei Musiker nostalgische Gefühle, entwerfen kleine und große Utopien und überprüfen, wie es wäre, wenn man im Leben immer wieder von vorn beginnen könnte.

“I know but I don’t know.” (Blondie) — From "Funny, how?" to "Fools At Work", house choreographer Samir Akika filled many a nook and cranny between personal history, artistic experiment, and dance spectacle over the past twelve years. What, one is inclined to ask, remains left to come? Well, a lot! Because for more than 25 years, Samir Akika has succeeded, time and again, in surprising himself as well as his audience with works no-would have expected from him at all. Regardless of whether the ensemble takes a deep dive into a shooting script together, turns the rehearsal stage into a playroom, or rolls the dice in the decision process – in the end, a production always emerged that seemed so vibrant, as if falling in love for the first time. So let us be surprised again by the path their intuition has chosen for Samir Akika and the Unsusal Symptoms ensemble this time.
