„My work was all about homage, because I thought they were the most beautiful people I’ve ever met.“ (Nan Goldin) — Mit „polaroids“ schuf Hauschoreograf Samir Akika 2017 eine Arbeit, die den elektrisierenden Spirit und die Aufbruchstimmung der New Yorker Kunstszene der 70er und 80er Jahre zum Ausgangspunkt für ein Tanz-Happening nahm, das schnell zum Kultstück wurde. Fast zehn Jahre nach seiner Uraufführung bringen Akika und Unusual Symptoms das Spektakel in einer neuen Version zurück auf die Bühne. Im Zeichen von New Wave, Street Art und Punk begibt sich das Ensemble einmal mehr auf die Suche nach dem eigenen künstlerischen Untergrund. Auf, hinter und unter der Bühne, zwischen Tierkostümen, Bühnennebel und Bier, wird das Publikum Teil eines multidisziplinären Kaleidoskops künstlerischer Selbstbehauptung.

“My work was all about homage, because I thought they were the most beautiful people I’ve ever met.” (Nan Goldin) — With “polaroids”, in-house choreographer Samir Akika created a work back in 2017 that captured the electrifying spirit and euphoria of the New York art scene of the 1970s, taking this as the starting point for a dance happening while quickly gaining a cult following. Almost ten years after its premiere, Samir Akika and Unusual Symptoms return the spectacle to the stage in a new version. Committed to new wave, street art, and punk, the ensemble will once again search for their own artistic underground. On, behind, and under the stage, between animal costumes, artificial stage fog, and beer, the audience will become part of a multidisciplinary kaleidoscope of artistic self-assertion.
